Gender & Disability Mainstreaming

  1. DIWA has managed to produce a handbook on gender and disability mainstreaming. The focus was on education and health. Women contributed to the handbook by sharing their experiences relating to the education and health. Some of the lessons learnt is that gender and disability mainstreaming is still a long way to be understood and implemented. Though the challenges varies, there is need to lobby at country level for the mainstreaming of gender and disability so as to address the needs of persons with disabilities in general and women with disabilities in particular.

  2. DIWA also managed to come up with the Training Manual on Gender and Disability Mainstreaming. We have shared the Manual with different stakeholders and hope to see positive results in the near future. The Manual was funded by GIZ. DIWA feels that there is a need to disseminate this manual to all stakeholders.
