Have held several workshops on capacity development and reports from the participating countries indicate that there is now paradigm shift where women with disabilities are slowly coming up to raise their voice.
This is strengthening their capacity at different levels. Zambia Federation of the Disabled (ZAFOD) is represented in the IMU. This is the body that looks at the implementation of the UNCRPD in Zambia. And one woman with disability is the Executive Director of the Zambia Council on disability.
Women in Kenya reported that they are vying for political posts. This is one of the indicators that women have gained self – confidence, and some have now become senators and others are members of Parliament, and others have served as ministers in government, and with continued trainings on capacity development, nothing can stop women from getting where they want to be.
